Today, March 24, is Ada Lovelace Day, an international day of blogging to celebrate the achievements of women in technology and science. As part of Ada Lovelace Day, we’d like to recognize the contributions of two amazing women who are part of the WordPress community, Jane Wells and Lisa Sabin-Wilson.
Jane Wells is a member of the WordPress core development team, with responsibility for user interface design. She has been a tireless advocate on behalf of users since joining the WordPress.org project as a contributor in 2008. Prior to working for Automattic, Jane ran a media research/usability lab in New York and served as director of user experience strategy at Schematic. She has also led the planning for WordCamps in New York and San Francisco, and has mobilized an open source design community in the run up to the release of WordPress 3.0.
Lisa Sabin-Wilson is a designer, business owner, and writer. Her design studio, E.Webscapes, provides design and development solutions for hundreds of bloggers and web site owners around the world, while her web hosting business, Blogs About Hosting, provides knowledgeable hosting for bloggers, with an emphasis on WordPress. Lisa is also the author of two editions of WordPress for Dummies, and the newly released BuddyPress for Dummies.
Thank you Jane and Lisa for all of your contributions to the WordPress community, and happy Ada Lovelace Day to you both.
Woop woop! Well deserved kudos on both counts!
More and more women are now embracing the IT and Science field. Thanks to Lady Ada Lovelace for paving the way. Jane and Lisa are both an inspiration in the WP community. Rock on ladies! =)

hey, congratulations for all you do
Congratulations to both Jane and Lisa. Well done!
Well done for both of them. Bravo
I would like to suggest another woman for her involvement and contributions to humans of all races and genders. Her name is Dr. May Berenbaum, of the University of Illinois. She is presently involved in studies of why our Honey Bees have been dying off at such an alarming rate. I am presently communicating with Dr. Berenbaum concerning this very topic. I think it would be beneficial if you investigated the tireless work of this dedicated scientist.
I learned a lot from Blogging for Dummies, and I follow WordPress news closely enough to realize what a huge force for good Jane Wells has been, so thanks to both!
Thanks to Jane Wells and Lisa Sabin-Wilson
You are really wonder women.
They have lit the way for my granddaughters.

Thank you, Jane and Lisa!
Sorry for my english.
“March 24, is Ada Lovelace Day” … congratulations.
It was also my birthday …
Congratulations ladies, you both deserve it, ten times over. I’ll be getting your book Lisa, it’s not here in Oz, so it’s off to Amazon for me, trust I’ll find it there . . . might get a few copies to hand to my team, would save me heaps of headaches heheheh
Keep up the excellent work, I think women can do a far better job in many cases with internet issues where it comes to readability and sensible design factors.
They seem to be less swayed by ‘trendy-styles’ and more interested in what ‘actually’ works . . not everything that ‘looks good’ works, and women seem to have this knack at seeing that ..
Cheers.
Sounds like Ada was a visionary, and I imagine you both are also, to be held in such good company! WTG
I’m happy to recognize two women with WordPress. The recognition has been given on a perfect day!
I wrote a post for Ada Lovelace Day too, about Dr Helen Berman, the woman in charge of one of the most famous science databases. I bet plenty of other WordPress people contributed too.
Congratulations!
¡Felicidades from Argentina!
